Method cases

Eleven different companies, eleven operational requests, eleven questions that changed the starting point. One principle: decisions come before tools.

Clarity · Decision · Direction

Why method cases, and not case studies

The cases are real and anonymized. Many of the projects described are still being implemented; others began as diagnostic, validation or strategic review assignments. That is why we do not build artificial “before and after” stories, and we do not credit the consultancy with results that cannot yet be measured.

What can be assessed today is the method: the initial request, the question that was suspended, the evidence that changed how the problem was read, and the decision that the diagnosis made possible.

Almost every company comes to marketing already holding a solution

“We need a new website.” “We need to advertise.” “We need more leads.” “We need to communicate more.” “We need to lower the price.” “We need to launch the product.”

An operational request always contains an implicit diagnosis. The consultant’s first job is to suspend that diagnosis, not to carry it out. Line2LEAD starts from an earlier question: what problem are we really trying to solve?

The method in six steps

  1. Symptom: the request the company arrives with. It already contains a solution.
  2. Hypothesis: the implicit diagnosis is suspended and reframed as a question.
  3. Evidence: internal documents, real prices, interviews, benchmarks, indicators.
  4. Diagnosis: the gap between what the company is, what it claims and what the market sees.
  5. Choice: the strategic decision the diagnosis finally makes possible.
  6. Priorities: where to invest, in what order, and what not to do.

Why strategic diagnosis often comes late

When the numbers say something is wrong, the problem may have started long before. Revenue and profitability describe the present: they do not always show that an advantage is becoming less distinctive, that a customer base is thinning out or that the market is changing. The best time to question a strategy is not necessarily when it stops working.

And in your company?

Five questions. Every answer that is missing today may hide a decision taken in the dark.

  1. If we put side by side the internal documents that describe our positioning, do they say the same thing?
  2. How many of our competitors could sign our positioning statement without lying?
  3. If we removed the technical features from our presentation, could we still explain what economic result the client is buying?
  4. How many people can we legitimately contact, and on which channel? Is it a number or an order of magnitude?
  5. If we doubled the budget tomorrow, would sales receive better-prepared contacts, or more people to convince?

Before investing more in marketing, let’s find out where the problem really is

The first step is not a sales proposal: it is a conversation about your case, with nothing to prepare, at the end of which you will know whether the problem you perceive is the real one.
